Scripture: Romans 10:1-4 Sermon

Sermon Title:“To everyone who believes”

  1. V. 1  My hearts desire and my prayer to God for their salvation

“No man or woman has ever been saved but He sought them first. We do not seek after Him until He first seeks after us. We do not go to Him by nature.” D.L. Moody

  1. Luke 6:12-13

  2. John 14:12-14

  3. Why should we pray for the lost/ unconverted?

    1. God commands it.

    2. God has appointed the means by which those that will receive the gospel.

  4. We are meant to participate in the 5 necessary means of reaching the lost.

    1. Prayer: Pray for the salvation of the lost.

    2. Preaching the gospel: God has ordained the public proclamation of the Word of God.

    3. Personal witnessing: You and I need to be able to fill our cities with the news of Jesus Christ.

    4. Godly living: We cannot preach a gospel we don’t live. That cancels out our witness.

    5. Love the lost: Showing kindness.

  1. V. 2 - I testify.. That they have a zeal for God, but not based on knowledge.

    1. Testify - Gk. “martureo”- Martyr, Solemnly bare witness in a court of law.

  2. V. 3 - Not knowing about God’s righteousness

    1. The better you know God's Word the better you know God's will. Because God's word is like a compass pointing you in the direction of His will.

  3. V. 4 - Christ is the end of the Law for righteousness.

    1. Christ is the goal or purpose of the law  (Gal.3:24).

    2. Belief in Christ as Lord and Savior ends the sinner’s futile quest for righteousness through his imperfect attempts to save himself by efforts to obey the law.

“Pray like it all depends on God, then when you are done, go work like it all depends on you.” Martin Luther
